But there’s a catch — you won’t even find pizza on the menu…technically speaking.
How is this possible? Z&Z Manoushe Bakers on Nelson Street in Rockville has become iconic for its legendary, mouthwatering manoushe, a type of Middle Eastern street food with a soft, crispy handmade crust.
Z&Z’s classic 10” manoushe includes a savory spread of Palestinian za’atar and olive oil, while other staples include aromatic toppings like house-made toum (garlic aioli), sage yogurt, merguez sausage, and kashkaval (a type of cheese made from cow’s and/or sheep’s milk).
Of course, traditional pepperoni pizza fanatics are sure to enjoy the Hot Halaby Honey manoushe, which is a 3-cheese blend topped with a beef sausage called sujuk, Aleppo pepper and honey.
